Life

In May 2014 Jan Hartwig became executive chef in restaurant ATELIER in the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich. The restaurant was awarded with two Michelin stars in 2015 and with three Michelin stars from 2017 onwards until his departure in the late summer of 2021. Back then, Jan Hartwig was one of only ten chefs with three Michelin stars in Germany.

 

After his apprenticeship in restaurant Dannenfeld in Braunschweig, Jan Hartwig worked at “Pomp Duck and Circumstance”. 2005 he started working at the two Michelin star restaurant Kastell in Wernberg-Köblitz under the direction of Christian Jürgens. In 2006 he worked for Klaus Erfort in Saarbrucken in his three Michelin star restaurant Gästehaus Klaus Erfort.
In 2007 he started working for Sven Elverfeld in the three Michelin star restaurant Aqua in Wolfsburg, where he became sous-chef in 2009.
